How to Create an At-Home Spa Day

There are lots of things causing us stress these days from getting Zoom to work right, to trying to productively work from home, to simply not being able to go out and do the things you love to do. Whatever is driving you crazy during quarantine, take some time to destress and focus on you with a little self-care spa day! Since most spas and other beauty salons aren’t open yet, you’ll have to make do at home. But relaxing at home is easier than you might think. If you’re craving some pampering, here are six ways you can take some time away from stress and hit the pause button on life. 

#1 – Set the Tone

Get in the mood of a spa day by setting the right mood to soothe your senses, starting with finding a relaxing playlist for the perfect ambiance. To take some strain off of your eyes, turn down the lighting and light some candles around the room or plug in a Himalayan salt lamp for a soft glow. 

Try filling the room with the aroma from soy candles or an essential oil diffuser. Finally, make yourself as comfortable as possible by wearing your softest, fluffiest robe and maybe get a glass of your favorite wine to unwind your mind and body. For those who want to really get away from it all, turn off your phone or leave it in the other room to avoid distractions or stress triggers.

#2 – Mask It Up

These days there is a mask for everything, and for good reason. Masks provide deep moisturization for your skin, tighten your skin, clean your pores, and even help remove dead skin. Whether you choose a sheet mask, mud mask, or a specialized eye mask, your skin will feel amazing when it comes off which makes them a must for your at-home spa day. 

There are even many ways you can DIY your own masks, even from things found in your kitchen. Don’t forget about other kinds of masks too! Not all masks are meant for your face. Hair masks have recently become very popular, especially for the nourishment they provide for damaged or treated hair. 

#3 – Get Steamy

For many, a bath is the way to go for a spa day. Spend some time enjoying a nice hot bath if you can. Soaking with some mineral salts or a bath bomb can make your skin feel extra soft and make you so comfortable that you don’t want to leave! 

#4 – Get Yourself a Mani-pedi

Your hands and feet do a lot of work for you every day. Take some time to give them a little extra care, which starts with keeping them moisturized after your bath or shower. You might also want to trim and file your nails if they are chipping or breaking as well as moisturize your cuticles with some oil. For your feet, soak them in water with Epsom salt if you don’t have access to a bathtub and try a foot mask afterward to really soften them. 

#5 – Use That Product You’ve Been Saving

Take your spa day to the next level with some specialty items like a face steamer, or maybe use a new mask or Korean beauty care item that you haven’t had the chance to try out. If you’ve been saving some expensive products for a special occasion, now is the time! Take this opportunity to give yourself the treatment you deserve. 

However, you should always exercise some caution in testing out products you have never used before, as you might not know if you have any sensitivities or allergies to any ingredients that they contain. Doing a spot test is a good way to check beforehand.

#6 – Do What Makes You Feel Your Best
